Cheap Head-Mounted Display

A few months ago, the rather clever
folks at Wild Planet released a nifty (though rather clumsily named) little
“toy” called the “Spy Video Car”. I cannot stress enough how well engineered
this gadget is. For around $100 (much less on eBay), you get:
A nicely-styled motorised car base with decent-for-a-toy steering and an
almost silent powertrain
A two-channel R/C set, also of decent-for-a-toy quality
A color capable video transmitter/receiver with a few hundred feet of range
A miniature B&W CCD video camera (similar to one of these)
A very bright 8mm IR LED and, best of all, a…
A video headset containing a Kopin 300M B&W LCD screen, optics,
backlight, and a PAL/NTSC driver board

Remote Control Spy Video Car with Night Vision

It's night, but you are still at typing away. You are working late on some crazy new code which will revolutionize programming forever. Suddenly, your ninja senses tingle. Have I had too much caffeine, or is there someone else here? you wonder. No one must be allowed to steal your code. You ready your ninja weapons for an assault, but then pause: at the last office meeting you were chastised for your false-alarm ninja attacks on various objects in the kitchen. If only you could see in the dark and through walls…
Now, you can… with a little help. Just turn on your Spy Video Car, adjust the camera angle, turn on the night vision, put on the Heads Up Display (HUD) visor, and drive your way to the suspicious noise. That's right - this quiet R/C car has a video camera mounted on the front. It broadcasts to the black and white LCD HUD which plugs into the remote. You'll see everything your Spy Car sees (in bright light or in total darkness). And since it rides really low to the ground, you'll be able to go under tables, chair, pets, and anything else that gets in your way. And don't worry, it wasn't your ninja senses tingling this time; you really have had too much caffeine.
